Metro Manila LGUs continue preparations for ECQ starting Aug. 6

Local governments (LGUs) in Metro Manila continue their preparations on Tuesday to implement enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the region starting this Friday, August 6.

The National Capital Region will be subject to ECQ or the strictest lockdown until August 20 due to the threat posed by the COVID-19 Delta variant.

The Quezon City local government continues to tighten restrictions in the face of the increase in COVID-19 cases in the area.

The local government unit suddenly conducted an inspection on Monday in the barangays of E. Rodriguez, Pinyahan, and Central, where 19 people were caught violating health protocols.

There were 25 lockdowns this week, up from 15 last week.

Their COVID-19 Hope Facility has also increased to 11 from the previous 4. The vaccinations are also continuing.

The Parañaque local government will continue to raise funds for residents affected by the lockdown in the face of the labor group’s request to distribute the aid immediately.

“Kami po sa LGUs, naghahanap din kami ng pondo para magkaroon din po ng ayuda ang ating kababayan. In fact, ang Parañaque po kanina, nag-meeting kami ng aming finance committee, pati budget officer at treasurer. Nag-allocate na rin po kami ng pondo para magbigay ng ayuda,” said Mayor Edwin Olivarez.

According to Olivarez, also chairman of the Metro Manila Council, the LGUs will issue quarantine passes.

Valenzuela City has already started issuing quarantine passes to Barangay General T. De Leon, the largest barangay in the city.

The barangay personnel also went house-to-house to ensure that the new quarantine pass is issued properly.

The barangay avoids the gathering of residents, especially if they leave their houses. Therefore, one quarantine pass per house is issued.

In Malabon City, residents can use previous barangay issues. But if it is lost, you can request a new one.

The city also continues to monitor COVID-19 cases, especially since four Delta variant cases have been recorded.

Barangay officials of San Juan City will also go from house to house starting Thursday, August 5, to distribute the city’s quarantine pass.
