Mega-isolation facility at SBMA already opened

The new treatment and monitoring facility for COVID-19 patients was opened in
Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) on Wednesday, April 14.

“Ito po ay isang partnership with the Department of Health, with the DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways) with the Office of the Civil Defense, with the Bureau of Quarantine, and of course, the Manila Times Corporation, kinonvert po natin ang facility ng Manila Times dito sa loob ng Subic Bay Freeport,” said SBMA administrator, Atty. Wilma Eisma.

The mega isolation facility called “We Heal As One Center” is located within the 12-hectare campus of The Manila Times College.

Its 11 buildings are designed to have a 500-bed capacity. It is seen as a great help to increase the healthcare system and decongest the hospital in Metro Manila.

“Bukas na po ito since last week at tumatanggap na po ng mga pasyente, the referral is being routes through the Department of Health, pwede rin po kayong tumawag sa One Hospital Command,” said Eisma.

Mega-isolation facility at SBMA already opened

In addition, the rehabilitation of the former US Naval Hospital will also begin here for additional COVID-19 beds.

“They are also working on rehabilitating the existing hospital in Subic so we can also cater up to 100 patients of critical cases. So ngayon po we are accommodating mild to medium cases here sa ating facility,” said Eisma.

The SBMA added that apart from preparing for the rising cases of COVID-9 in the country, it is still better to increase care and self-protection so that there is no need to go to isolation facilities.

“Patuloy po sana ang pagsunod natin sa mga protocols, huwag po tayong magsawa, alam ko po nakakapagod, magdadalawang taon na tayong ganito, ngunit hindi po tayo pwedeng dumadaming kaso,” she added.

According to Atty Eisma, as of April 18, 38 COVID-19 patients have been admitted to the SBMA’s mega-isolation facility.

Meanwhile, Atty. Eisma to ensure the safety of all and strictly follow health protocols.
