McDonald’s Philippines announced on Monday that it would bring back this weekend some of its most iconic Happy Meal toys in celebration of Happy Meal’s 40th anniversary.
McDo PH first released its Happy Meal toys in the country in 1997 and globally in 1979.
Fifteen toys released from the 1990s up until 2013 will be available in Surprise Happy Meal, which can be bought in participating branches across the Philippines.
The McDonald’s Philippines will only sell the iconic Happy Meal toys from Thursday until Sunday only.
“Parents tell us how fondly they recall their favourite toys,” said Colin Mitchell, McDonald’s Senior Vice President, Global Marketing.
“So, unboxing the Surprise Happy Meal together creates a real moment of bonding with their children. We hope these toys are something that they will treasure and remember,” she added.
Get a chance to get a Tamagotchi!
Though customers cannot choose the Happy Meal toy they want, they will have a chance to get a Tamagotchi.
Tamagotchi, a toy fad in the 1990s, is a keychain-sized virtual pet simulation game. The characters are colorful and simplistically designed creatures based on animals, objects, or people.
A Happy Meal box costs between PHP115 (US$2) and PHP148 (US$3).
