Mayor Sara Duterte now open to running for president

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte’s response to the question of whether she is open to the possibility of running for president in Election 2022 is now clearer. It happened just days after her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, said he was considering running for vice president.

During Mayor Sara’s visit to Cebu, the mayor was asked if he is open to running for the highest position in the country in the May 2022 elections.

“Opo,” the mayor answered.

“Ang importante sa ngayon ay malaman namin kung ano ang sentimyento ng mga tao at ano ang gusto ng mga tao,” she added.

In recent months, the mayor has been saying not to include her among personalities considered presidential candidates.

This is despite the actions of some groups to persuade her to run for president as the leader of the regional group Hugpong ng Pagbabago.

Recently, her father, Pres. Duterte said that he is considering running for vice president to become a “lame duck” president.

When asked if anyone had talked about the election, the mayor said, “Nothing yet. But I also asked Gov. if we could come back here to Cebu to talk to the Cebuanos. It’s important for us at HNP to talk to a lot of people. The gov. agreed. ”

The mayor also thanked the support of the Cebuanos, who can be seen on the “Run, Sara, Run” tarpaulins in the area.

“Nagpapasalamat ako sa mga aking supporters dito sa Cebu sa kanilang trust and confidence sa akin, and that is one of the reasons kaya kami nandito because we want to ask the people kung ano ba talaga ang gusto nila,” Mayor Sara said.

In April 2021 Pulse Asia Survey, Mayor Sara Duterte still leads a survey of possible presidential bets in 2022.

Former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. (13 percent) was second to Duterte. Senator Grace Poe and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno followed 12 percent each and Sen. Manny Pacquiao with 11 percent.
