Mayor Isko to revoke licenses of funeral homes, establishments with drinking sessions

Manila City Mayor Isko “Moreno” Domagoso sternly warned the owners of funeral homes and establishments in the city, as well as the police, about drinking in public places in the city.

The mayor appointed Bureau of Permits Director Levi Facundo and Manila Police District Deputy District Director Col. Narciso Domingo to go around to arrest establishments that do not comply with Ordinance no. 5555.

“Lahat ng punenaryang nagpapa-inom we will revoke their permit, that is a blatant violation of Ordinance No. 5555. Walang exception na kapag may patay, pwedeng uminom, walang exception na kapag may birthday, pwedeng uminom,” Mayor Isko said.

Following the said ordinance, it is strictly forbidden in the City of Manila to drink in establishments that do not belong to restaurants, “panciteria,” “carinderia,” hotels, or bars, as well as on the street or alley.

At the same time, he warned the leaders of the 13 stations in the city that if anyone violates Ordinance no. 5555 in their jurisdiction, they will immediately be fired from their office.

“Kapag ako umikot ng madaling araw at ako mismo nakahuli at may violation — one-strike policy, tatanggalin natin ang Precint Commander, PCP o Outpost Commander. You will be out of Manila, you have no business in Manila,” the mayor warned.

“Neglect to me is not petty. The job of the Manila Police District’s uniform personnel is to implement ordinances,” he added.

Mayor Isko also reminded residents of the ongoing threat of COVID-19 and the high likelihood of its spread whenever there is a party.

Currently, there are 417 active cases of COVID-19 in the City of Manila.
