Mayor Inday Sara: Duterte-Duterte tandem unlikely

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on Monday insisted that the Duterte-Duterte tandem is still unlikely in Eleksyon 2022.

has said ‘the presidency is not a woman’s job,’ particularly not for me,” Sara said in a mix of Cebuano and English.

“If he will run for vice president, let’s not expect that he will get me to run for president,” Mayor Inday Sara added.

In January, Duterte said the presidency was not for women even if her daughter was being urged to run for in 2022.

“My daughter is not running. I have told Inday not to run kasi naaawa ako sa dadaanan niya na dinaanan [ko],” Duterte said.

[I have told Inday not run because she would go through what I went through.]

“Hindi ito pambabae. Alam mo the emotional set-up of a woman and a man is totally different,” he added.

[This is not for a woman. You know, the emotional set-up of a woman and a man is totally different.]

Mayor Inday Sara revealed that many reached out to her offering to be her vice president.

“Marami ang nakikipag-usap sa akin but hindi ko sila masagot because there is no final answer,” Sara said.

“Governors or officers of the Hugpong ng Pagbabago are talking to a lot of people. That is what I know,” she added.

Cabinet Secretary and PDP-Laban member Karlo said PDP-Laban members would naturally support Davao City  Duterte should she run for President in the May 2022 elections.

“She is a Duterte. She is the daughter of the President. There will always be that natural inclination to support Mayor Sara in whatever decision she makes,” the secretary said in an ANC interview.

“You do not have to be a member of PDP-Laban for PDP-Laban to support you. If the entire party says we will support Inday Sara for President, she is not required to join the party,” he added.

Mayor Inday Sara Duterte has said she would not join his father’s party and that she will remain with Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) of Davao Region and Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod (HTL) of Davao City.
