Mayor Abigail Binay: 500,000 Makati residents to receive P5k cash each

Makati Mayor Abigail “Abby Binay” announced Monday that its local government would give P5,000 cash each to around 500, 000 qualified residents of the city starting on May 15 via e-money transfer.

Binay said the Makati LGU allocated a total of P2.7 billion for the cash aid, which she announced in the Facebook live session yesterday.

The mayor said eligible residents registered in the expanded Makati Economic Relief Program would get cash assistance regardless of their economic status.

“The MAKA-tulong 5K for 500K+ Makatizens program, which will cost P2.7 billion, is intended to provide much-needed financial assistance to residents on an individual basis, not per household, as we begin to emerge from the prolonged lockdown,” she said.

  • A resident of Makati or of any of the relocation sites managed by the Makati LGU in San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan, and Calauan, Laguna
  • Must be registered either as a Makatizen Card holder, or as a Yellow Card holder under the Makati Health Program, or as a voter in Makati City

Binay explained that if both parents are qualified for the program, they will receive a total of P10,000. If their child is also eligible, they will receive a total of P15,00.

Even the grandparents who live with them are also qualified to receive financial aid under the “MAKA-tulong” program.

Unlike the national government’s Social Amelioration Program, the “MAKA-tulong” will still give P5,000 cash to 4Ps members, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities (PWD). Informal workers, and solo parents, are also eligible to get financial assistance.
