In recent times it appears that Ninoy Aquino International Airport is simply falling apart. Over the past few years, and just recently, people have fallen through the shoddy floors, ceilings have collapsed, people have been hurt and the modernisation projects seem to be nothing short of shoddy.

This past week a portion ceiling collapses and a glass partition at the pre-departure lounge area at Gate 10 shattered at 2.40pm on Tuesday.

Officials at the airport blamed the shattered glass on the starting of two engines on two airplanes at Gates 9 and 11, causing a major vibration inside the airport and shattering the glass from its mounted position.

The ceiling collapse happened at the Duty Free Shop the following day in the perfume section – according to the sales clerk, water dripping from the aircon unit weakened the ceiling, causing it to collapse.

Authorities said the contractor who built the terminal improvements will fix the damaged ceiling.

No word on who will replace the glass panel, if ever.
