Maynilad, Manila Water explain changing water meters

Meanwhile, Maynilad and Manila Water clarified that meters changing is part of the customer contract of water concessionaires.

This was after some consumers claimed that their bill increased after their water meters were changed

Maynilad changes meters every 5 years, according to concessionaire spokesman Zmel Grabillo.

Manila Water replaces customers’ meters every 7 years, said spokesman Jeric Sevilla.

Because the meters are just outside, the wet consumption reading is no longer accurate as time goes on.

Grabillo and Sevilla also explained that if the consumption increases when the meter is new, that is really the consumer’s consumption.

“Kung talagang may pagtaas versus sa dati, isa lang po ang ibig sabihin niyan. ‘Yon po ang nagamit nila,” said Grabillo.

“Ito ay nag-reflect lang ng tamang accurate na consumption,” said Sevilla.

If the customer is not satisfied with the meter reading, they can request a water meter test to really measure if the reading consumption is right.
