A two-year-old girl was killed when her next door neighbour barged into their house and slit her throat in Zamboanga City
The girl, identified as Previous Lomec Midel, lived at Sitio Toctobo, Barangay Vitali, Zamboagao City, was declared dead at a nearby hospital.
Police have arrested a neighbour, 38-year-old Albert Angeles Legaspi.
The girl’s grandmother, Pilar Midal, said she left her granddaughter in the house to gather laundry but when she returned she saw the suspect inside the house and holding the victim with a bladed weapon in his hands.
Midal said she was called into the house by the killer as he said he wanted to “determine whether the young girl’s meat was soft or hard”.
Scared, the grandmother ran away from her house to seek help from the police – however, when she returned home, she saw her granddaughter already bloody from the attack.
Police responding to the grandmother’s cry for help and arrested the suspect on a follow-up operation.
Authorities are now conducting an investigation to determine any motive behind the killing other than the suspect is basically mentally deranged.
