Man allegedly rapes 10-year-old niece almost every day

A man has been arrested for allegedly raping his 10-year-old niece in Laguna. The suspect was just living in the house of the victim’s family when the lockdown was imposed.

In a report by John Consulta on GMA News “24 Oras” on Wednesday, the authorities said that the suspect raped his niece almost every day before the abuse being done to the child was discovered.

The suspect was found to be staying at the victim’s family home in Majayjay, Laguna, when the enhanced community quarantine was implemented.

“Nung lockdown, nang pinatira sa bahay niya yung suspek, sa tuwing ‘yung magulang ay pupunta sa bukid para magsaka, ‘yung nanay at tatay, naiiwan itong biktima pati ‘yung suspek,” said Police Captain CJ Talampas, chief of Majayjay Police Station.

“Doon nakakakuha ng pagkakataon ‘yung suspek na galawin ‘yung biktima sa CR, sa kuwarto, o kaya sa sagingan,” the official said.

Aside from the rape of the victim, the suspect allegedly threatened and ordered the victim’s 12-year-old sister to film his lewdness.

“Tinatakot din niya kasi ‘yung ate na isusumbong sa magulang kasi may ginawang kasalanan ‘yung ate. Kaya ang ginawa ng suspek, siya ang ginawang taga video para sa kalahayan na kaniyang ginagawa,” said Talampas.

The suspect tried to flee when his crime was discovered, but the authorities still caught him.

The suspect confessed to the crime and apologized for what he did.

“Inaway po ako ng lasing tapos nakanood po ako ng porn. Sana po mapawatad niyo po ako. Kahit buong buhay ko, kahit gawing alila niyo po ako, lahat gagawin ko po mapatawad niyo lang po ako,” said the suspect, who would be faceing charges of 22 counts of rape.

Due to the incident, Police Colonel Serafin Petalio II, Police Provincial Director of Laguna, advised parents to watch over their children even indoors.

In may, Philippine National Police (PNP) reported an average of eight rape incidents in the Philippines during the imposed community lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

PNP data revealed 602 people nationwide were sexually assaulted from March 17 to May 23, which is an average of people every day.
