The couple’s neighbors rescued their two-month-old baby.

Police arrested the suspect Romnick Melecio, who admitted he stabbed his wife Dailyn, 24, to death before setting their home on fire.

Liburon Barangay Captain Lucio Lastima told Superbalita Cebu Melecio was reportedly angry at Dailyn after he found out that she was having an affair with a foreigner.

However, Lastima heard from his neighbors that Melecio knew all along about Dailyn’s extra-marital affair. He also said Melecio tolerated the affair since he too benefited from the foreigner’s kindness. The foreigner also lives in Liburon.

The Melecio family is selling motorcycle parts after they bought a property there.

Police would investigate further Lastima’s information. Lastima said if Melecio agreed with his wife’s affair with the foreigner, why would he be jealous and kill her.

Lastima said the neighbors heard the couple having a heated argument on Saturday night. They suspect that could have been the time that Melecio murdered his wife.

P/Cpl. Alge Noel Espinosa of the Carcar City Police Station suspects Melecio could be under the influence of an illegal substance because he was agitated and unstable after his arrest.

Espinosa said Melecio admitted he stabbed his wife to death and burned down their house.

Lastima said the neighbors saw Melecio leaving the burning house.

The Carcar City Fire Station received the fire alarm at 11:16 a.m. Sunday and declared fire out after 25 minutes.

The blaze damaged no other structure in the area. The damage to property was estimated at P75,000.

The suspect will face arson and parricide charges before the Carcar City Prosecutor’s Office today.
