Man dies after being hit by stolen vehicle in Iloilo

A man died after being hit by a stolen vehicle in Balasan town, Iloilo, on Tuesday.

The victim, Alejandro Navales, 64, was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

Authorities caught the suspect driving after the vehicle overheated.

According to police, the vehicle was stolen in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo, and the suspect took it to Roxas City, Capiz, Tuesday morning.

The vehicle owner detected that it was parked at a mall in Roxas City through its GPS.

The owner of the vehicle immediately informed the police of the incident and quickly went to the mall. But when they arrived at the scene, the vehicle was gone after the suspect heard that he was following him.

The suspect went to Pilar town, Capiz, with the stolen vehicle.

Arriving at the border checkpoint in Barangay San Nicolas, Pilar, Capiz, and Barangay Kinalkalan, Balasan, Iloilo, the suspect ran away from the police after stopping him.

Authorities quickly chased the suspect, and when they arrived in Barangay Camambugan, Balasan, the suspect collided with the victim who was riding his motorcycle.

Due to the force of the collision, the victim fell on the road, and the suspect quickly fled.

The victim was immediately taken to the hospital but did not survive.

The suspect is already in the custody of the Balasan police and is scheduled to be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property and carnapping.


Barangay chairman shot dead by riding in tandem

A barangay chief was shot dead by a riding in tandem in front of his shop in Caloocan City. The culprits even fired a gun upwards while fleeing.

In a report by Darlene Cay on GMA News “Unang Balita” on Tuesday, the victim was identified as Geraldo Apostol, chairman of Baragay 143.

His wife was wounded after a bullet hit her in the thigh.

The culprits on a motorcycle were caught on CCTV when they arrived at the crowded market around 6:00 pm on Monday.

The victim’s family and co-workers have no idea of the possible motive of the crime.

The investigation by the criminal authorities is ongoing.
