Man arrested in Aklan for offering P100-M reward to kill Duterte

Police arrested a construction worker who posted he would give P100 million reward to anyone who could kill President Rodrigo Duterte, Tuesday night, Aklan province.

Malapay Municipal police station on Wednesday identified the suspect as Ronald Quiboyen, 40 years old.

Investigators said they received information that Quiboyen posted he would give P100 million to anyone who would assassinate the President.

“‘Yong 50-milyon nyo doblihin ko, gawin kung 100-milyon kung sino makapatay kay Duterte. Andito ako ngayon sa Boracay,” the suspect said.

(I will double the P50 million, I will give P100 million to anyone who could kill Duterte. I am in Boracay now.)

Police Col. Columbo Allan Aberia of Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 6, Lt. Col. Gervacio Balmaceda Jr., chief of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Regional Field Unit 6, and Malay police chief Lt. Col. Jonathan Pablito launched the operation to arrest Quiboyen.

The Malay Police Station Masaligan meanwhile congratulated the police operatives for Quiboyen’s arrest.

“Congratulations to Malay PNP operatives for their key role in the joint operation that led to the successful arrest of Ronald Quiboyen. Quiboyen was turned-over to CIDG-Aklan and Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 6 for appropriate filling of case,” it said in a Facebook post.

Authorities captured Quiboyen at Sitio Hagdan in Barangay Yapak, Malay, at 7 p.m. The suspect is now detained in Malay police station. He will face a case for violation of Article 142 of the Revised Penal Code or Inciting to Sedition.

Quiboyen’s arrest came a day after the National Bureau of Investigation also captured a teacher for posting that he would give P50 million reward for anyone who could kill Duterte.

His Twitter post has been deleted, but many have been able to screenshot it, and the NBI is holding it as evidence.

He said that while onboard to the vehicle with the subject and his parents traveling their way back to Dagupan City, they applied reverse psychology to the suspect. After a few minutes, the arrest netizen cried and admitted the crime.

“Nagso-sorry po ako kay [I apologize to] President Rodrigo Duterte,” he said while crying.

He explained that he had no intention of harming the President and only did it to gain more followers on Twitter.
