According to Laguna Provincial Police Office (PPO) Director of Police Colonel Eleazar Matta, it was around 2:30 pm when they rescued the foreigner from its kidnappers.

Abductors brought the Malaysian to Brgy. San Francisco, Biñan City. Suspects robbed the victim first in front of a casino in Parañaque City at 8.30 pm on September 21.

Officials identified that a loan shark syndicate was behind the kidnapping incident. The syndicate would target players who lost money in the casino gambling. They would kidnap the victim and ask ransom money from their families.
