Malacañang thanks Filipinos for Duterte’s 91% performance rating

Palace on Monday expressed its gratitude to Filipinos after a survey showed nine out of 10 Pinoys approved President Rodrigo Duterte’s performance amid the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

reported that Monday, 91 percent of Filipinos approved of how the president addressed the Philippines’ crisis.

“Maraming, maraming salamat po sa taumbayang Pilipino na ang trust at ang performance rating po ng ating Presidente ay napakataas at 91%,” presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said at a news conference in Boracay.

(Many, many thanks to the Filipino people that the trust and performance rating of our President is very high and 91%.)

The survey revealed that 91% approved Duterte’s performance while 5 percent disapproved, and the remaining 5 percent were undecided.

Roque said the Duterte’s ratings indicated that the public rejects politicking while the Philippines address the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Tingin ko gusto ng taumbayan na hindi namumulitika sa panahon ng pandemya. Nakikita naman nila na ginagawa ng Presidente ang lahat ng pupuwedeng gawin para mas kakaunting mga Pilipino [ang] magkakasakit ng COVID-19. Ginagawa niya ang lahat para iahon sa kahirapan ang ating mga kababayan,” he said.

(I think the people want no politicizing during the pandemic. They see that the President is doing everything possible to reduce the number of Filipinos [who] will get sick with COVID-19. He does everything to lift our countrymen out of poverty.)

“Ang panawagan po uli ng Presidente sa lahat ng pulitiko, isantabi muna natin iyan. 2022 pa po ‘yan. Tulungan natin ang ating mga kababayan,” Roque added.

(The President once again called on all politicians, let’s put that aside first. That is still 2022. Let us help our countrymen.)

Meanwhile, the Pulse Asia survey said Vice-President Leni Robredo had 57 percent approval rating, 22 percent disapproval, and 21 percent undecided.

Senate President Tito Sotto garnered 6 percent disapproval, 84 percent approval, and 10 percent undecided.

Those surveyed gave House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano a 70 percent approval, 10 percent disapproval, and 19 percent undecided. Cayetano currently has a term-sharing conflict with Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco.

However, Supreme Court Chief Justice Diosdado M. Peralta obtained only 44 percent approval, compared to 37 percent undecided ang 13 percent disapproval.
