How to Make Homemade Disinfectant Spray

Reports of disinfectant shortage and hoarding are circulating online. If in case you would not be able to buy one, you can actually make your own. Here is how to make a homemade disinfectant spray using simple ingredients.

Chemist Janir Datukan shared on Wednesday’s “Umagang Kay Ganda” program on how to make different types of homemade disinfectant.

For fabrics, you will need:

  • Spray bottle
    • Water
    • Vinegar
    • 5 drops essential oils
  1. Pour the water and vinegar into the spray bottle. According to Datukan, the amount of water and vinegar in the bottle should be equal.
  2. Apply essential oils. Shake the bottle.
  3. The disinfectant can now be sprayed.

How to Make Homemade Disinfectant Spray

For kitchen and bathroom tiles you will need:

  • 4 cups hot water
  • 1/2 cup of vinegar
  • 1 tbsp baking soda
  • 1 slice of lemon
  1. Mix water, vinegar, baking soda, and lemon.
  2. Put in a spray bottle.

If you want a more potent disinfectant, hydrogen peroxide (agua oxinada) or vinegar can be applied to part of the house to be cleaned.

First, you should put agua oxinada and wait for 5 to 10 minutes.

Then add the vinegar and wipe off the part of the house.

Datukan explained that the two – hydrogen peroxide and vinegar – should not be combined to prevent chemical reactions.
