A magnitude 6.4 earthquake rocked Cotabato and some parts of Mindanao Wednesday night.
The earthquake, which was tectonic in origin, struck Tulunan, Cotabato, at around 7:37 pm at a depth of 8 kilometers. The United States Geological Survey, meanwhile, recorded the earthquake at magnitude 6.4.

The earthquake also hit the following areas

- Intensity VI – Digos City, Davao del Sur; Sto. Nino, South Cotabato; Tacurong City
- Intensity V – Alabel & Malungon, Sarangani; Lake Sebu, Polomolok, Tampakan & Tupi, South Cotabato; Koronadal City; Roxas & Pikit, North Cotabato; General Santos City; Davao City; Kalamansig, Lebak & Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat
- Intensity IV – Kiamba, Sarangani; Esperanza & Rosario, Agusan del Sur; Kalilangan, Quezon, Kadingilan & Damulog, Bukidnon; Mawab, Compostela Valley; Cotabato City; Matanog, Barira & Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao
- Intensity III – Santa Josefa, Agusan del Sur; Iligan City; Dipolog City
- Intensity II – Butuan City; Zamboanga City
- Intensity I – Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur
According to Phivolcs, residents in the affected areas could still experience aftershocks following the earthquake in Cotabato.
“Aftershocks can happen. Some can be felt most likely in low intensities. But we cannot remove the possibility of similar intensities that can be felt in the epicentral area,” said Renato Solidum, head of Phivolcs.
