List of Passers 2019 Bar Exam Results

The Supreme Court (SC) releases the List of Passers for 2019 Bar Exam Results today, Wednesday, April 29.

The 2019 Bar top-notcher is Mae Diane M. Azores from the University of Sto. Tomas-Legazpi (formerly Aquinas University) with a 91.0490% rate.

Chairperson Senior Associate Justice Estela M. Perlas-Bernabe said 2,103 out of 7,685 examinees (27.36%) who completed the 2019 bar exam passed.

She also said the passing rate had been lowered from 75% to 74%.

In the 2018 bar exams, only 22.07% (1,800 out of 8,158) passed the exams. Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) graduate Sean James Borja topped the bar with 89.31%.

The 2019 bar exam covered eight (8) pillars including Political Law and Public International Law (15%), Labor and Social Legislation (10%), Civil Law (15%), Taxation (10%), Mercantile Law (15%), Criminal Law (10%), Remedial Law (20%) and Legal and Judicial Ethics (5%).

The Philippine bar examinations are the only professional exam not facilitated by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). The Supreme Court exclusively governs it.

The SC conducts the Bar examinations under Article VIII, Section 5 of the Constitution states the SC shall have the power to promulgate rules governing the admission to the practice of law.

The most prestigious professional licensure exam in the country for aspiring lawyers has the usual passing rate of 20% to 30%.
