Several companies responded to President Rodrigo Duterte’s call to release their employees’ 13th month pay early amid the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.

“‘Yun sanang malalaking enterprises dito, maybe you can consider paying the 13th month pay… kung walang trabaho as a way of showing your solidarity with the Filipino at this critical time,” Duterte said Monday.

The Palace thanked the giant companies for heeding the appeal of the President.

“There are also those companies who would do their share in alleviating and responding to the needs of the daily wage earners and regular employees but would not want to identify themselves and will do it discreetly. To them, our commendation,” presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo said on Thursday.

Panelo also recognized transport companies that offered buses to transport health workers and other persons who are exempted from the ban for free.

“The Palace is aware that there are more companies and persons offering their resources and services to help contain the spread of COVID-19, and they too deserve kudos for such selfless acts,” Panelo said.

“We can only hope that other businesses will follow suit within their means.”
