LGUs request database of swab test results

The Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines has requested a database of RT-PCR tests now that local governments are in charge of implementing travel protocols.

On TeleRadyo, ULAP national president Quirino Gov. Great Carlo Cua that if there is a database of test results such as the text messaging system of LTO, the verification will be faster, and counterfeiting will be prevented.

“Kasi kung minsan ‘yang mga QR code, lalo na sa mga boundary ng checkpoint sa land travel, hindi naman lahat ng lugar sa kalsada ay may signal so ang hirap ng QR code na mangangailangan ng internet. So kumbaga, kung merong manual o mas simpleng teknolohiya na maia-apply dito ay sa tingin namin, mas maraming makakagamit o matutulong,” said Cua.

Some ULAP members are also open to using vaccination cards, but the government must first fix those vaccinated databases.

They specifically asked the Department of Information and Communications Technology to make the database of vaccinated people simple, accessible, and fast.

This is to help verify vaccine cards against counterfeiting.

The group is also studying whether the cards can be used in selected activities.

“Pag-aaralan namin for some applications or some group of people or activity, maaari sigurong gamitin ang vaccination card lalo na po sa mga lugar o gawaing medyo low-risk o open spaces,” said Cua.

It may be recalled that the Inter-Agency Task Force said that the implementation of travel protocols would be left to local governments after announcing that RT-PCR test results of fully-vaccinated anti-COVID-19 are no longer required.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III assured that the DICT is already working for digital certification for vaccine cards.

“Yung DICT is working on the digital certification, vaccine certification, and by July 31st, their commitment is to be able to upload, encode 90 percent of the total vaccinated individuals,” he said.

League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) said vaccination cards should be security marked to prevent them from being counterfeited.
