The suspect, the victim’s boyfriend, 34-year-old Ferdinand Palaganas, was arrested.

Authorities suspect Palaganan was jealous when he found out that the victim was having a chat and video call with someone else.

“May ebidensiya kaming pinanghahawakan kagaya ng picture sa cellphone ng biktima noong kaniyang boyfriend. ‘Yon ang nagturo sa amin para imbestigahan,” said Police Chief Master Sergeant Chester Dandin, chief investigator ng Vigan Police Station.

31 Filipinos, including 4 health care workers, died of COVID-19 in Kuwait

Four health care workers were among the 31 Filipinos who died in Kuwait due to COVID-19, according to an official.

In a Laging Handa briefing on Thursday, Chargé d’Affaires Charleson Hermosura said that of the approximately 300 Filipinos who tested positive for the virus, 260 of them have recovered.

The Filipinos who died of COVID-19 in Kuwait were immediately buried.

Hermosura added that an estimated 23,000 Filipinos had lost their jobs, and some have gone to no-work, no-pay jobs.

The number is said to be based on the lists of applicants for the financial assistance program where those who qualify will receive one-time cash aid of P10,000 or $200.

Since March 25, up to 4,000 Filipinos have been helped to return to the Philippines.

A report by the Department of Foreign Affairs on Thursday said that up to 8,974 Filipinos abroad were infected with COVID-19 after 59 new cases were added.
