Senator Panfilo Lacson said that he and Senate President Vicente Sotto will continue to be the presidential and vice-presidential candidates in Election 2022.
“Nabasa na talampakan namin sa Tour of Luzon kaya tuloy-tuloy [na] lulusong na kami,” Lacson confirms with GMA News on Tuesday.
Sotto had earlier said he would run for vice president if Lacson could run with him as the presidential candidate.
“If Sen. Lacson decides to run for president, I will definitely be his running mate,” Sotto said.
“I am not in the habit of saying that I will not run, and then all of a sudden, I will file my certificate of candidacy. Let the other politicians do that. Not in our party,” he added.
Lacson earlier said that Sotto wants to focus on illegal drugs.
“Gusto niyang pagtulungan namin kasi pareho naming pangunahing advocacy ang peace and order at paglaban sa korapsyon,” said Lacson.
“Totoo ring kabisado niya ako sa pagka-seryoso na labanan ang korapsyon. Hindi minsan kaming tumutol na dalawa, even nagpasauli ng lobby money para sa pagpasa ng prangkisa na pinadala ng isang congressman sa Senate office niya,” he added.
In recent days, Lacson and Sotto have held consultations with local officials in Luzon.

Sotto is one of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) leaders, which is said to be in talks to ally with the Democratic Action for the upcoming elections.
Meanwhile, former Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano said that his position as president or congressman of Taguig again is the race he is considering in the coming elections.
“I’m not really considering for vice president… May mga nagsasabi na puwedeng mag-senador, but I’m really contemplating muna ano ang magiging future natin in the first year after Duterte,” said Cayetano.
In the 2016 elections, Cayetano ran for vice president with President Rodrigo Duterte.
According to Cayetano, he will make a decision in the coming weeks, the most recent being in September, about the position to run in the May 2022 polls.
