A Korean man was arrested for his part in the death of a woman at Pilar Street in Las Piñas early Saturday morning.
Bae Sung Hung is under arrest after his SUV hit Felina Melgar and Sergio de Guzman while they were crossing the Alabang-Zapote road.
Hung stopped briefly at the crime scene but quickly sped away. He was pursued by Babie Baculio, a witness to the incident.
Baculio followed Hung to Tahanan Village in Parañaque where he was arrested.
An investigation into the incident indicated the suspect had fallen asleep at the wheel, before running over the two victims. Melgar was taken to the Las Pinas City Medical Centre where she died of her injuries. De Guzman is in critical condition at the IC unit of Perpetual Help Medical Centre.
CCTV cameras in the area were not working at the time and did not record the collision.
