A kidnap-for ransom gang who took a Korean hostage on the island of Mindanao has released their victim.
The 73-year-old Korean hostage was held captive for 10 days in the town of Lanao del Sur.
A spokesman for the Army’s 1st Division said Noui Hong Sung was recovered at 11pm on Tuesday near Barangay Pawak, Saguiran.
Local officials were in pursuit of the hostage when they spotted the victim near Pawak.
No other information was available on whether the ransom was paid or if the kidnappers negotiated with the family of the businessman.
Sung was turned over to the Anti-Kidnapping Group of Mindanao and debriefed. Police have said the victim was in good condition and was brought to Illigan City to be reunited with his family.
