Joel Cruz spends almost P52M to have children

The recognized “Lord of Scents” of the Philippines, Joel Cruz, spent up to P52 million to have a large family.

In his interview with Ogie Diaz, Cruz opened about the trajectories before the surrogacy of his children to a Russian was successful.

According to Cruz, he has been dreaming of having children for a long time, but he cannot do it naturally or adopt a child.

“Ayaw ko talaga ng adoption. Gusto ko sarili kong anak. Pero hindi ko naman kaya na may babae,” Joel Cruz admitted.

That is why surrogacy is an agreement that allows a woman to conceive a child of a couple or a sperm donor.

He allegedly first tried it in the Philippines 25 years ago even though it was illegal in the country, but it allegedly did not go well because it did not adhere to the selected mothers two weeks later.

A decade before, Cruz realized that surrogacy had to be done in another country where it was legal, and a single father was allowed like in Russia.

But the processes have not been easy for Cruz either because Russian authorities are also strict on planning a surrogate.

“They really have to interview me kung bakit gusto ko talaga magkaanak. Kasi di naman sila agad-agad tumutulong,” he said.

He also allegedly cried in front of a lawyer in Russia to be allowed surrogacy.

“Sa harap ng lawyer sa Russia, umiiyak na ako sa harap niya na gustong-gusto ko na talaga magka-anak. They have to check kung ano gagawin mo sa bata. Baka mamaya ibenta mo yung bata,” he said.

“Kung alam talaga na you are sincere, na gustong-gusto mo talaga magka-anak, kaya mong bigyan ng buhay ‘yun, bigyan ng education ‘yun, mabigyan ng magandang buhay ang bata, papayagan ka nila.”

Admittedly, Joel Cruz spent almost P12 million when his first twin was born.

The second and third sets of twins cost P11 million each. He spent P9 million each on his seventh and eighth children.
