Actress Jennylyn Mercado can consider her pregnancy a surprise because of her condition.
In an interview with Preview magazine, Mercado and her fiancé Dennis Trillo admitted that they have been trying to have children since 2018. Still, the actress is having a hard time getting pregnant.
So in 2020, they decided to go to America for surrogacy. In Dallas, the two found a surrogate for their future child.
She said that everything was ready and that only signing the documents made Jennylyn Mercado feel different.
According to its story, she was shooting a movie this September when she realized that she did not have monthly menstruation and dizziness, a sign of pregnancy.
Mercado admitted that there was no pregnancy test kit then, so it was just based on tarot cards where three cards agreed she was pregnant.
She said she called Trillo to buy her a pregnancy kit to make sure she was pregnant.
The long-time celebrity couple confirmed that Jennylyn Mercado is five weeks pregnant.
The actor, who had just returned from the Venice Film Festival then, was shocked by the events.
“Parang ang galing lang ng timing dahil nangyari pa rin ’yung gusto namin sa natural process talaga,” said Trillo.

“Halo-halong emotions ’yung naramdaman ko. Natakot ako para sa kanya kasi mag-isa lang siya doon. Health niya yung una kong naisip siyempre, tapos kung papaano ako makakatulong sa kanya kahit malayo ako.”
Fortunately, Mercado was able to get out of lock-in filming quickly to focus more on pregnancy at home.
The two still wanted to pursue surrogacy in America, but they realized it would be hard to focus when they had two children.
“Buti na lang, ayon, kumalma ’yung mga utak namin. Nag-decide kami na mag-focus muna kami dito,” the actor told Preview.
On Friday, Mercado and Trillo announced that they were engaged and would have their child.
The 2 actors each have one child in their previous relationships, Alex Jazz, Jennylyn Mercado’s son to Patrick Garcia, and Calix, Trillo’s son to Carlene Aguilar.
