The Shimano Bike Company of Japan, one of the world’s largest makers of bicycles and parts, has opened a 1.3 billion peso manufacturing facility in Santo Tomas, Batangas.

The Shimano Philippines facility will manufacture various components – mainly for export. Once in full operation the facility will employ about 1,000 people.
Shimano was established in 1921 in Sakai City, Osaka, and today operates over 40 factories and sales offices with 13,000 employees across 20 countries.
Net sales as of Sepember 30, 2014, amounted to 241 billion yen, or roughly 91 billion pesos, while net income reached 34.67 billion yen or 13 billion pesos.
