Japan needs thousands of caregivers: recruitment agency

A recruitment agency said Japan has a strong need for caregivers, so even if there is a ban, Filipino workers are allowed to enter.

“They were given a chance to go to Japan until midnight of January 3. So we were able to meet that deadline for our 15 guys, so nandu’n na sila… and thousands and thousands are needed in Japan for the next, for the next 10 years, so it’s an opportunity that we have to take,” said Cesar Averia, president and CEO of EDI-Staffbuilders International.

According to Averia, they will continue to deploy 300 caregivers in April and 500 in December.

Qualifications for a caregiver in Japan

  • Graduate of nursing/physical therapy / occupational therapy
  • Undergraduate but with TESDA NCII certificate
  • 6 months of job experience

“First 2 months muna is actually online. After that, then they go on the school so that they can do the actual, the technical training… After that, they have to pass 2 exams… Most of them have financial problems so they cannot really stop working. And in order to learn language you have to concentrate and learn it and be dedicated to it. So all we need is their commitment,” said Averia.

But the applicant will not have to spend because all employers will shoulder the expenses and if they pass, the salary would be $ 1,300 or more than P60,000 per month.

Often the employer still pays for the caregiver’s accommodation, food, and transportation expenses in Japan.

Christine Hernani was now able to speak Japanese after 5 months of training.

She sells online to make money until she gets to Japan. Although she finished her education, she dreamed of supporting her family and siblings so she decided to become a caregiver.
