Janina San Miguel reveals she was offered P3-M for one night stand

Former beauty queen Janina San Miguel said she was offered P3-M for a one night stand and P25 million for a relationship after she won Binibining Pilipinas in 2008.

San Miguel shared the dark side of beauty pageants she experienced in a Channel News Asia documentary

“‘Yung 25 million, ano ‘yung gagawin ka niyang parang girlfriend. Bibigyan ka niya ng car, condo, resort, lahat,” she said.

“Ayun na nga ‘yung mga maduming kalakaran nila. Ang dami talagang gustong maging girlfriend or wife ang isang beauty queen,” she added.

Janina was only 17 years old when she was crowned Binibining Pilipinas World in 2008. She revealed her preparations for Miss World 2008 was so intense that she was even isolated from her family.

“Nandun lang ako sa loob ng Araneta (Coliseum),” she said. “Wala nga pong phone, wala ding computer, wala lahat.”

“There’s a point in time na nandun na ‘yung brother ko at ‘yung daddy ko sa labas pero sabi nung guard, ‘Since wala kayong appointment, umuwi na lang kayo,'” she said.

Janina said that she accidentally learned that her grandfather was hospitalized during her training.

“Ang balak pa nila, ayaw nilang sabihin sa ‘kin na ‘yung lolo ko mamamatay na because I’m in the middle of training. So ayaw nilang parang madistract ako,” she said.

San Miguel resigned from her title in September 2008, citing personal reasons including the death of her grandfather. The title was transferred to 1st Runner-up, Danielle Castaño, who went on to represent the country at the Miss World 2008 pageant.

Janina San Miguel was first criticized for her answer in the Q&A portion of the pageant, which has grammatical errors.

Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI) has not issued any response to Janina’s revelations.
