Latest news: Arrested suspect Annshiela Belarmino denied Wednesday that she was involved in the brutal killing of Laguna driver Jang Lucero, the current partner of her ex-girlfriend.
John Consulta reported on “24 Oras” that Belarmino was the woman seen in CCTV footage the night Lucero was stabbed more than 50 times inside her car in Calamba, Laguna.
Calamba police used the photo of her tattoo, which she posted on social as one of the critical pieces of evidence to arrest her.
Police also said the suspect’s friends confirmed that she was one of the three passengers who rode Jang’s car before she was found dead.
Belarmino, however, denied her involvement in the murder and insisted she was not the woman in the CCTV footage.
“Hindi po ako ‘yong nasa video. Puwedeng katulad lang ng buhok ko or ginaya ‘yong tattoo ko dahil noong time na ‘yon ay wala ako doon at nakikipag-inuman ako sa ibang lugar,” Annshiela Belarmino said.
(I’m not the one in the video. Maybe we have a similar haircut, or she imitated my tattoo because, at the time, I was not there. I was drinking somewhere else.)
“Alam ko na lalabas din ‘yong totoo. Sisiguraduhin kong ‘di ako ‘yon at alam ko sa sarili kong inosente ako,” she added.
(I know the truth will come out. I will make sure that I am not that person and that I know for myself that I am innocent.)

The suspect, meanwhile, admitted she had a relationship with Lucero’s current girlfriend, Meyah Amatorio, last February 2020. She said they broke up a month after she learned that Amatorio and Lucero were about to get back together.
“Ex-girlfriend (ako noong girlfriend ni Jang.) Ako ‘yong nakipag-break kasi nalaman kong nakikipag-ayos pala siya kay Jang nang hindi ko naman alam. Nagkakasama talaga sila. Hindi ko naman alam na sa pagsasama nila, nag-aayos na pala sila, hindi ko po alam kaya nakipaghiwalay po ako,” Belarmino said.
(I was Jang’s ex-girlfriend. I broke up with her because I found out they were patching things up without me knowing. They were spending time with each other, and I did not realize that during those times, they were fixing their relationship. I didn’t know so I broke up with her.)
The police, however, insisted the case against Belarmino is “airtight” despite her denial.
