Ivorian national involved in car accident, 6 students injured
Ivorian national involved in a car accident, 6 students injured, Thursday morning.

Six (6) college students were injured when a car drove by an Ivorian national hit them in Barangay Pamplona Tres, Thursday morning.

The Ivorian was identified to be George Ouli, 41 years old who has been living in Las Piñas for ten months now together with his Filipina girlfriend.

A closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera caught the accident. The group of students was crossing from the Amphorium St. to the corner of Everlasting St. where there is also a line of vehicles.

The sedan overtook the line of vehicles and did not notice that students were crossing the street. It first sideswiped another car before it hit the students.

Three of the students went up to the car’s windshield, which directly hit a motorcycle parked near a tree.

Three sustained minor injuries while the other 3 got significant wounds, one of which had a head injury.

Ivorian national said he is not in his right state of mind

According to Rommel Nataya, peace and order team leader of Barangay Pamplona Tres, Ouli explained that he tried to avoid a truck. But in the CCTV footage, there was no track involved in the accident.

Ouli later admitted that he was not in his right state of mind when he hit the students. He said that he was anxious because his brother was sick and was in the hospital.

The foreigner apologized and promised to shoulder all of the students’ medical expenses.

However, Ouli will still face reckless imprudence resulting in physical injuries case.
