An Iranian has been arrested and jailed after punching a college professor in Caloocan City on Tuesday.
35-year-old Pooyaz Gholami of Manaluyong City is being charged with violation of Article #266 of the Revised Penal Code for (Maltreatment and Unjust Vexation) before the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office.
Gholami is accused of punching 47-year-old Jaime Mandapat, a professor at Manila Central University College of Dentistry.
Caloocan police say the incident happened just after 11am inside the faculty room of the college while the professor was busy grading papers for his students.
The Iranian was arrested after security guards called for the help of local police – even during arrest procedures Gholami continued his out-of-control shouting.
Officials for the school and police say they have informed the Iranian Embassy regarding the incident. Gholami is currently being hold at Caloocan Police Station 3.
