America’s FBI has joined the hunt for the Filipino-American who has been tagged as the prime suspect in the killing of a 23-year-old Filipina this week.
A warrant for arrest has been issued by a Zambales court for Jonathan Dewayne Ciocon Viane for the murder of Karie Ces “Aika” Majica and has been transmitted to the FBI at the United States Embassy in Manila.
Since Viane is an American citizen, he will not be extradited back to the Philippines, he will be tried and sentenced in the US.
An investigation into the incident appears to be a separation and custody issue with Viane’s wife in the US.  Authorities in the US say he left his American wife and took their son to the Philippines in April amid a bitter custody battle.
It is now known that Mojica and Viane’s wife are friends and she gave information to her as to Viane’s whereabouts, possibly prompting the killing.
Majica’s body was found in a dyke in San Felipe, Zambales on July 25. Her body was tied up with a plastic strap and her partially burned remains were discovered by local residents.
Mojica was laid to rest on Thursday this week in Zambales.
