How to watch MMFF 2020 films online

The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2020 entries shifted to online setup due to the continuous threats of COVID-19 in the Philippines.

Lhar Santiago reported on “24 Oras” that MMFF 2020 films could be watched starting December 25 through the Upstream.ph website.

The website was developed by Filipinos and work just like other international online platforms.

“For example sa mga kasama natin sa online platform, kami lang ang pwede ng pause, rewind, play, forward na mga features. ’Yung iba kung nag-start ka, hindi mo na pwede atrasin. Kailangan tapusin mo,” said Erik Matti, Upstream creative partner.

Upstream.ph homepage shos the posters of MMFF 2020 film entries. Dondon Monteverde, the streaming company’s business partner, said viewers just have to do choose films to watch.

“Tapos from there, may advance booking feature ang Upstream.ph. Gawin mo pindutin mo lang para mag-reserve ng ticket as early as now,” Monteverde said.

“Pindutin mo ‘reserve now’ ’yung ticket mo. Dadalhin ka na sa ticketing gateway namin. Doon ka magbabayad.”

Each movie ticket costs Php 250 or $10 for viewers abroad.

“Pagdating ng 25th to Jan. 7 real time na ’yan lahat,” Monteverde added.

Starting December 25, viewers both locally and internationally could watch all 10 films from the comfort of their own homes.

MMFF 2020 films line up

Here is the full list of entries for MMFF 2020:

  • Magikland- It is a Peque Gallaga live-action animated film based on one of the theme parks in the Philippines Magic Land located in Silay, Negros Occidental. It is also known as the first outdoor theme park in the Visayas.
  • Coming Home- Its main stars are former senator Jinggoy Estrada and Kapamilya actress Sylvia Sanchez.
  • The Missing- Directed by Easy Ferrer, The Missing is about Iris (Ritz), who is tapped by a former boyfriend, Job (Joseph), to restore a house in Japan of Riku Watanabe.
  • Tagpuan- Starring Alfred Vargas, Iza Calzado, and Shaina Magdayao
  • Isa Pang Bahaghari- Isa Pang Bahaghari is a 2020 film starring Nora Aunor. It is directed by Joel Lamangan.
  • Suarez the Healing Priest- It is a biopic about the famous healing priest Father Fernando Suarez.
  • Mang Kepweng–  A fantasy horror-comedy film starring Vhong Navarro
  • Pakboys Takusa- A comedy film
  • The Boy Foretold by the Stars- A romantic comedy movie about two senior high school boys, who, through the help of a fortune-teller, find each other at an optional school retreat called Journey with the Lord.
  • Fan Girl- The movie tells the story of a 16-year-old fan —played by promising new actress Charlie Dizon— who sneaks into actor Paulo Avelino‘s home.
