Hong Kong man with 571 card-skimming devices arrested at Manila airport

A Hong Kong man and his 571 card-skimming devices have been seized at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila.

The skimming devices were found in a checked-in bag owned by the as yet unnamed man.

NAIA District Collector Edgar Macabeo issued a Warrant of Seizure and Detention (WSD) on the 571 skimming devices.

Seized were a pouch with 199 devices for One Time Password (OTP) and 38 SIM cards – another punch contained 173 pieces of OTP and 22 SIM cards – a third pouch contained 199 pieces of OTP and 42 SIM cards.

The man was arrested and will face charges in violation of Republic Act 8484 (the Access Devices Regulation Act of 1998) – and also will Section 2505 (Failure to Declare Baggage) and 2350F (Forfeiture) and 3601 (Unlawful Importation of the Tariff and Customs Code of the Philippines).
