Hidilyn will receive P1M from league of governors

The country’s first Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz will receive an additional P1 million from the League of Provinces of the Philippines.

This is stated in the released resolution of the LPP, signed by Gov. Great Carlo Cua and national chairman, national president Gov. Presbyterian Velasco Jr., and Gov. Nelson Dayanghirang is the secretary-general of the organization.

In the resolution, the governors praised the efforts of Diaz, who allegedly came from a low-income family in Zamboanga City.

Diaz won gold in the women’s 55kg category in weightlifting at the Tokyo Olympics.

The resolution also mentioned its achievements, such as participating in the Asian Weightlifting Championship, World Weightlifting Championship, Asian Indoor, Martial Arts Games, and the Asian and Southeast Asian Games, where she won gold in 2018 and 2019.

Officials also admired the athlete’s resilience, as, despite the pandemic, she did not cease to bring honor to the country.

Meanwhile, in a text message from LPP VP for Luzon and Oriental Mindoro Gov. Humerlito Dolor, they said they would contribute as governors to generate the P1-M peso.

The contribution is voluntary and not by force, an official added.

Hidilyn will receive P1M from league of governors

After the historic victory, Diaz is set to receive more than P30 million in prizes from the public and private sectors. This is in addition to houses, cars, and other incentives for the weightlifter.

Under the law, Diaz will receive P10 million from the government. In addition,  V. Pangilinan will also give her another P10 million.

Millionaire Ramon S. Ang will also give Diaz P10 million, while deputy speaker Mikee Romero will give her an additional P 3 million.

Meanwhile, the weightlifter will get P2.5 million from her hometown Zamboanga City also by law.

Dennis Uy’s Phoenix Petroleum also gave P5 million pesos to Diaz.

Hidilyn Diaz also received lifetime free flights from flag carriers Air Asia and Philippine Airlines.

She will also get P5 million from Dennis Uy’s Phoenix Petroleum, plus free fuel for life.
