Home Box Office has rejected Manny Pacquiao’s upcoming fight with Jessie Vargas and will not be showing it on their paid network.
Sources say that HBO has also abandoned all contracts associated with Pacquiao’s boxing matches.
Promoter Bob Arum told reporters that he is ‘shopping around for a new broadcast network’ that will help him distribute the Pacman’s fight on November 5.
“It’s going to be distributed on Dish, Direct TV, etc. etc. and now we’re working on a distribution partner to fill the role of HBO.” Arum told reporters from RingTV.
Arum said that HBO has decided to pass due to their Ward – Kovalev boxing match which runs two weeks later than Pacquiao’s.
The November 19 match between Sergey Kovalev’s bout with Andre Ward will go live in Las Vegas on Pay-Per-View.
Arum also said that HBO”s decision effectively ends the agreement between Pacquiao and the American network.
Showtime, another American network said they are open to featuring Pacquiao’s fights.
