US motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson is opening its first dealership in the southern Philippines.

RDAK Global Motors is the dealer bringing the Harley-Davidson brand to Cebu.

Harley-Davidson broke into the Philippines business arena just two years ago when it opened its first dealership in Quezon City.

Harley-Davidson has manufactured their iconic motorcycle since 1903. Currently the company is expanding in markets that have created double-digit growth, especially throughout Southeastern Asia.

The Cebu showroom will feature company clothing and lifestyle products for purchase.

“We don’t intend to mix with the Japanese brands because they’re more for the sports bike market… We in Harley-Davidson are into the cruiser-type. Also, there’s not so much customization in Japanese brands” Reyes said.

In recent years Harley-Davidson has expanded its outlook to attract young buyers with new breeds of motorcycles.

The old-age branding of rough-tough culture has stymied growth within other markets around the globe, Harley-Davidson has tweaked their line-up to include motorcycles that fit today’s younger generations.

Officials said they will hire a European designer to bring the much anticipated showroom to Cebu. Company reps noted that the move to expand in the Philippines is a huge investment on their part.

Those interested in Harley-Davidson motorcycles can find models at the new showroom when it opens in late November. Standard models range from 495,000 to three million pesos.
