A 67-year-old grandmother spent P67,000 on her “love scammer.” The victim, who is from Pangasinan, has been at the airport for more than a week and is still waiting for her alleged foreign boyfriend she met on Facebook.

According to a report by Emil Sumangil on GMA News “24 Oras” on Wednesday, it was said that the woman who hid under the name “Remy” met a 66-year-old retired US Army “Alex Shandler” on Facebook.

“Marami akong ka-chat… ginusto ko siya kasi mabait siya sa pagtingin niya o ano, hindi siya bastos,” said the victim from Pangasinan who went to Ninoy Aquino International Airport to pick up her boyfriend.

Last week, “Shandler” allegedly asked her for $500 or more than P24,000 to leave his camp in Afghanistan and get his pension of $300,000 or more than P14 million.

The victim allegedly owed money to be sent to the man she believed was her boyfriend.

Remy added that there are three women she has already given P20,000.

“Kinukuhaan ako no’ng tatlong babae ng tig-P30,000. Saan ako hahagilap ng pera dito?” she said.

Remy can no longer contact her supposed boyfriend and the three women.

According to authorities, the woman fell victim to a love scam.

“Sasabihin na siya ay na-hold sa Immigration at kinakailangan niya magbigay ng pera upang siya ay i-release. ‘Wag na ‘wag niyo po itong gagawin kasi ito po ay scam,” said Airport Police Senior Inspector Nemencio Bawal.

Despite what happened, Remy still believes she was not deceived or victimized by a love scam.

“Hindi. Nandito siya. Hindi siya nanloloko ito. ‘Yung tatlong babae ang scammer,” she said.
