A man was killed after being attacked by giant wild bees after he was out gathering wood in Topdac, Benguet, on Wednesday.
Charlie Mendoza and Romeo Butag were out gathering wood when the swarm attacked them.
The attack of the giant wild bees was so severe that Mendoza died on the spot. Butag was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
Doctors believe an allergic reaction caused the death of Charlie Mendoza. A doctor said that he died of either a heart attack or an allergic reaction to the stings.
Wild bees are prevalent in the forested regions of Benguet and many locals use their venom to treat arthritis.
