“Troubled” German jumps to his death from third floor of shopping mall

Richard Alexander Harbich, a 40-year-old German, jumped to his death from the third floor of SM City Bacolod Mall just two days after failing at a similar suicide bid.

Mr Harbich traveled to Bacolod City last year to visit his girlfriend. However, soon after a concerned citizen noticed him sleeping rough in the plaza and alerted the local authorities.

Mr Harbich reportedly told authorities that he was penniless after his girlfriend took his money and valuables, leaving him nothing to pay for accommodation.

Further investigation suggest that Mr Harbich had exhibited signs of being deeply troubled, and was probably suffering from some sort of acute mental illness when he took his life.
