Gazini Ganados shares her advice to Rabiya Mateo

Miss Universe Philippines 2019 Gazini Ganados shared her advice to Rabiya Mateo, the Philippines’ bet for the Miss Universe pageant next month.

Ganados passed down the crown to Mateo last year.

“When I crowned her as Miss Universe Philippines, I told her lang naman na just be yourself and enjoy every bit of the journey. Kasi that’s all that matters naman. This is once in a lifetime opportunity,” said Ganados in an interview with “Sakto” on TeleRadyo on Friday.

Ganados also shared her message for Mateo who is now in Florida for the much -anticipated competition.

“Rabiya, you already know how much we are here to support you, how much we love you and rooting for you. We know that you will make us Filipinos proud and laban lang talaga,” said Gazini.

Ganados also encouraged Filipinos to continue to support Mateo’s fight in Miss Universe.

“I just want to thank everyone who supported me in our journey in Miss Universe. And please do continue supporting Rabiya now ’cause she needs our help. And magsama-sama po tayo, magtulungan para sa ikabubuti ng bayan,” said Gazini Ganados.

Meanwhile, former beauty queen Miriam Quiambao took to social media to show her support for Rabiya Mateo.

“Praying for you,” she said on her Instagram stories.

Miriam and Rabiya Mateo are both licensed physical therapists and cum laude graduates.

Quiambao finished first runner-up in Miss Universe 1999, which was won by Mpule Kwelagobe Botswana.

Rabiya Mateo worked hard in college until she graduated from cum laude physical therapy course in 2018 at Iloilo Doctors College.

She worked as a lecturer at a physical therapy review center before joining Miss Universe Philippines.

“I said in my free speech, na education is talaga the gateway to success. I have experienced it first hand.”

“Sabi ko, this was just a dream, sabi ko wala talagang impossible once you put your heart and soul into something that you really want to do,” said Mateo.

Mateo promises that she will try even harder to  for the Miss Universe pageant to bring honor to the Philippines.
