Garbage collector returns P191K he found in trash

A garbage collector in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan was impressed after he returned to the owner the P191,000 money he found thrown in the trash. The man received a promotion as a reward.

In a report by Joanne Ponsoy of GMA Regional TV Balitang Amianan on GTV “Balitanghali” on Friday, the honest garbage collector Rene Corpuz was identified.

Corpuz was hauling garbage on June 5, 2021, when he was surprised to see the money spread from a garbage truck placed in their truck, totaling P191,000.

“Doon sa mga basura sa taas ng truck nakita ko na may P500 na nakakalat, doon kasi ako sa taas ng truck, ako ang taga-buhos ng basura,” said Corpuz.

But according to Corpuz, he did not want to take the money he did not work for, so he immediately handed it over to Urdaneta City LGU.

The money was quickly returned to the owner.

Earlier, an establishment, which declined to be named, was conducting general cleaning when it accidentally discarded the money tucked in the paper bag.

“Mayroong promotion of course. From contractual to casual, kaagad-agad, nabigyan siyang ganu’ng status na ngayon,” said Emily Lucero, head of the Urdaneta City GSO about Corpuz.

Duque will appeal to Duterte to on face shield use

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III will appeal to President Rodrigo Duterte in case the use of the face shield is finally stopped and it will only be used inside hospitals.

The secretary said it was not yet time to stop the use of face shields in public places especially in enclosed areas due to the low number of people vaccinated against COVID-19 in the country.

Health Undersecretary Leopoldo Vega had earlier agreed that face shields could be removed when outdoors and worn when inside enclosed establishments, schools, offices, public transport and terminals, churches, and other public places.
