A rash of undocumented guns and ammunition has hit the NAIA Airport recently. On August 4 a Saudi man bound for Riyadh was intercepted with a .25 calibre pistol and 20 rounds of ammunition. He was turned over to the intelligence and investigation unit of NAIA.
Later the same day, a man was intercepted with 10 rounds of reload ammunition for a .45 calibre handgun. The Capiz City resident was bound for home via Cebu Pacific flight 7602 – he is now under police custody for proper disposition.
On August 5, a departing French man was intercepted with a complete 9mm upper receiver without any documentation. He is still being investigated and is being held by regional police.
The French man was departing via Cathay Pacific flight CX926 for Hong Kong when he was apprehended with the gun part. He was caught at the initial security screen checkpoint at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport in Lapu-Lapu City.
