Four dead and three missing in mining tunnel collapse

Four people are dead, while three miners are still missing after a tunnel collapse in Monkayo, Compostela Valley on Saturday night.

Police say the “Australia Tunnel” in the mountain of Diwawal collapsed at 8pm while the miners were inside working.

The collapse is said to have been triggered by an underground flash flood.

Since Sunday, six miners have been rescued, while three others remain trapped inside the tunnel.

A total of three miners have been killed long with on rescuer. The Office of Civil Defense in Davao Region said the rescue operation is ongoing and is being lead by the mining company.
