Makati police arrested FlipTop rapper Loonie and four others in a drug buy-bust operation in Makati, Wednesday night.
According to Makati Police Chief Police Senior Supt. Rogelio Simo, they arrested Loonie, or Marlon Peroramas in real life, and his companions in the parking area of a hotel in Brgy. Poblacion, Makati City.
Authorities put Loonie’s group under one-month surveillance before they launched the buy-bust operation.
The police recovered fifteen sachets of kush or high-grade marijuana and buy-bust money from the rapper’s group.
FlipTop rapper Loonie denies allegations
But Loonie’s defense, the evidence was planted, and he had nothing to do with illegal drugs.
“Hindi totoo lahat ng parating sa akin,” he said. “Iyong mga pera at mga na sa sachet, hindi po sa akin ‘yan.”
(All of your allegations against me are not true. The money and those in the sachet, they are not mine.)
“Pumunta po kami dito para sa batang may cancer. Nanggaling pa po ako sa radio interview kanina, dumiretso ako dito at bigla na lang gano’n,” the rapped added.
(We came here for a child with cancer. I am even from a radio interview earlier, I went straight here and all of a sudden this happened.)
The Makati Police continue to conduct their investigation.
Loonie is one of the pioneer FlipTop rappers in the country alongside Zaito who got arrested last year also with illegal drug violations.
FlipTop Battle League is the first and largest professional rap battle conference in the Philippines founded by Alaric Riam Yuson in 2010. Loonie would sometimes accuse his opponent of being a drug addict as part of his winning strategies.
