Fire hits oil refinery in Pampanga

Some residents were startled after hearing an explosion during a fire at an oil refinery in Barangay San Pablo Libutad, San Simon, Pampanga Tuesday night.

According to Police Maj. Freddie Henry of the San Simon police, a part of the plant, exploded while it is conducting an old oil refinery at around 11.30 pm.

The fire spread quickly to other parts of the plant, so the fire was raised to a first alarm before it was extinguished within 30 minutes.

No one was reported injured in the incident while the oil refinery’s administration is investigating the cause of the explosion and the total amount of damage it caused.

It was 4:30 am on Tuesday, November 26, when the fire started at Java Pension House in Gonzaga Street.

Bacolod Fire Chief Publio Ploteña said the fire reached the third alarm. It was declared fire out at 6:00 am, and when the firefighters entered the burnt building, six were found lifeless.

Fifteen people were initially reported to have been rescued by firefighters in the wake of the fire.

A motorcycle in the hallway of the ground floor of the facility is said to have started the fire.
