Filipinos can be vaccinated anywhere as long as registered: DOH

The Department of Health (DOH) has ensured that any Filipino in any part of the country can be vaccinated as long as they register with the local government to avoid ‘walk-ins’ and not cause congestion.

“Ibig sabihin, kung ikaw ay nagpunta sa Davao at ikaw ay puwede nang bakunahan, puwede ka bakunahan doon kahit hindi ka taga-Davao,” explained Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire.

(That is, if you went to Davao and you can be vaccinated, you can be vaccinated there even if you are not from Davao.)

She said this is part of the ‘no wrong door policy’ implemented by the DOH where they do not close the door to all those who want to be vaccinated even if they are not residents of the area where they are.

But the DOH does not recommend local governments accept walk-in applicants as it could result in overcrowding and the possible spread of the virus.

She said it would be better for those who want to be vaccinated to register with the local government before going to the vaccination centers so that their dose will be provided and the system will be in order.

President Rodrigo Duterte threatened that those who will refuse to get vaccinated against -19 would be arrested.

“Don’t get me wrong, there is a crisis being faced in this country, there is a national emergency.  Kung ayaw mong magpabakuna ipaaresto kita, at ang bakuna itusok ko sa pwet mo,” Duterte said in his weekly Talk to the Nation.

“Don’t force my hand into it.  Kung hindi kayo magpabakuna, umalis kayo sa Pilipinas. Go to India or to America.  But as long as you are here and you are a human being who can carry the virus, magpabakuna ka.  ‘Pag hindi, ‘yung ivermectin na para sa baboy ang patira ko sa’yo,” Duterte added.

The President said he felt “exasperated” hearing reports of some Filipinos refusing the free COVID-19 vaccines provided by the government.
