A Fil-Am couple have been sentenced for their part in a mortgage assistance and foreclosure scheme in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Alex Soria and Sonia Rodis were both sentenced to eight years in prison for their crime. The scam involved promising homeowners that their mortgage will disappear while they kept the property title.

Several of their victims were actually Filipinos – in all they collected about $63,000 during their crime spree.

The judge sentenced the Soria to up to eight years in a Nevada State Prison, while Rodis received the same sentence but it was suspended for a probation period not to exceed five years.
